Apple allegedly has no plans for hardware at WWDC 2024 Apple's annual developer conference, which kicks off on June 10, is usually a major showcase for the company's newest innovations. That being said, the 2014 event was all about software and there will be no new hardware this year.
WWDC 2024 has been announced to take place from June 10 to June 14. |
The Cupertino-based tech giant does not have any new hardware announcements planned for the conference, according to Bloomberg's Power On newsletter author Mark Gurman. Gurman, however, made it clear that surprise product teasers or unveilings are unlikely, just as he squashed earlier rumors of a next-gen Apple TV.
Earlier reports have hinted at a new Apple TV with a faster processor that may be sold at a lower price point. The device was slated to be released in early 2024. But now Gurman says, no such Apple TV upgrade is just around the corner.
At WWDC 2024, Apple is expected to reveal changes to the operating systems that run its various devices, such as iOS for iPhones, iPadOS for iPads, and macOS for Mac. One of the most notable features is expected to be iOS 18, which may include considerable artificial intelligence (AI) upgrades.
One of the predicted changes is a more intelligent version of Siri, Apple's speech assistant. Siri is said to have developed the ability to ask follow-up inquiries without the user having to repeat information. Furthermore, there are claims that Apple has formed a relationship with OpenAI to integrate its sophisticated AI technologies, such as the ChatGPT conversational chatbot, into Apple's ecosystem.
Apple likewise might have AI-driven bespoke emoji in iOS 18, as per Gurman living past the present emoji library. Also, users might have better control over how their home screens are set up and ultimately create a more custom-fit user experience.
That being said, Apple often surprises us with major announcements that we do not even know about until the official keynote. As such, we will not know what all of Apple's plans for WWDC 2024 are until the event actually starts.
