Next State Of Play Games Showcase Feels Like Sony's Biggest Yet May 30 On a Stream May's State of Play will include some thrilling announcements and some fresh updates on the games coming to the PlayStation 5 and PS VR 2.
The new State of Play will air at 6 p.m. EDT/3 p.m. PDT on PlayStation's official YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok channels. The whole thing is being streamed live too and that video is embedded above. According to an announcement from Sony, the showcase will last around 30 minutes and show off a total of 14 titles, including multiple games from PlayStation Studios that are planned to release in 2021.
For example, the lineup for PlayStation Studios includes a remaster of the horror adventure game Until Dawn, the first release from Haven Studios Fairgame$, the mysterious Concord from Firewalk Studios, Marvel's Wolverine from Insomniac Games, and a new multiplayer Horizon game from Guerrilla Games. Also, look for some third-party surprises and updates, including Konami's Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 remakes later in 2021, and Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds, as well as Kojima Productions' Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (due out in 2025).
Rumor has it in addition to these titles, we could be treated to new content announcements OR footage for: Naughty Dog's The Last of Us multiplayer project, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth updates, and more. In addition to the unit itself, Sony will detail the games that are coming to the PSVR2 to make the virtual reality format more effective and “better.”
After Thursday's State of Play, Konami will host the second Silent Hill Transmission livestream, which will offer new information on in-development Silent Hill games, and the movie Return to Silent Hill. The event will explore the future of the Silent Hill franchise even more extensively, giving fans an even better idea about what to look forward to with the franchise moving forward, in both gaming and film.
